Poppy lake was made possible by a team of three ambitious girls who share the love of visual storytelling. Each of us combined our skills and passion to create a game that told a story of a girl who felt lost in searching for a friend who is lost. This is a very short game made during the ICWJ "I Can't Write But Want To Tell A Story Jam" https://itch.io/jam/i-cant-write-but-want-to-tell-a-story in about 32 hours.

Game contains mild suspense, chilling moments, sounds effects and jump scare that may not be suitable for those who are easily scared or those with health conditions. Proceed with caution.

Player can click and search with mouse. Left click to advance dialogue.

There are two possible endings to the game (as of now).

Playable on PC and MAC (no mobile version yet)

We are very new to Ren'Py and game development in general, however we hope you enjoy this experience.

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! We are planning on further developing the game in the future, and having different translations would be a cool idea! We'll keep ya posted!

Sounds amazing!

I really enjoyed this game! Although it’s short, the story of friends who were close but drifted apart over the years resonates with me. The art was great - fun to look at, colorful but moody. I also really enjoyed the writing - clear and descriptive without becoming overwrought.

Even though there wasn’t a lot of dialog, I feel like I have a strong sense of what kind of person the protagonist is, which is a sign of well written characters.

I am not sure if I am just not discovering the proper paths, but the two endings I have gotten so far have definitely left me wanting more. I’d definitely be interested in learning more about the fate of these two girls. I will be on the lookout for more games by these developers, definitely worth a download, although it may leave you wishing there was more.

Thank you so much for playing our game! We are really happy you enjoyed it. It means a lot especially because this is our first game and we are new to a lot of the elements we decided to use in it. We also wish it could have been longer but a lot of things came up. In the end we had to cut out a lot of potential content due to the time-restriction. We do intend on further developing this game in the future!
